Though she was always an incredible actor, Kangana Ranaut turned into a bankable star with her 2013 release Queen. As her sleeper hit clocks seven years today, the curly-haired actress shared an untold story with her followers.

Kangana revealed that she had signed the Vikas Bahl-directed movie only for money and had thought that it would never release. She said that she went to New York to study screen writing with the money and had by then, ‘buried’ all her acting ambitions.

Kangana wrote, “After almost a decade long struggle I was told I am too good an actor to be a Bollywood leading lady, curly hair and vulnerable voice made it worse, I signed Queen thinking this will never release, signed it for money with that money I went to film school in New York.”

“In Newyork I studied screenwriting, directed a small film in California at the age of 24 which gave me a breakthrough in Hollywood, after seeing my work a big agency hired me as a director, I buried all my acting ambitions, did not have the courage to return to India,” she further added.

“Bought a small house in the outskirts of LA in Calabasas, just when I left everything, Queen released, changed my life and Indian Cinema forever marked the Birth of a new leading lady and woman centric parallel cinema,” revealed the actress.

Ranaut tweeted, “Queen is not just a film for me, it was an explosion of everything I ever deserved was kept away from me for 10 long years, everything came all at ones, it was overwhelming, I truly believe what is ours no one can take away hang in their you will get your due (sic).”

Though she had leveled allegations of inappropriate behavior at director Vikas Bahl after his name was dragged in the #MeToo movement, she thanked him as well. She wrote, “Vikas sir wherever we may be with our friendship today but I do believe you played a very significant role in shaping my destiny, I enjoyed every minute of our creative partnership and today when I see #7yearsofqueen trending…. I want to say thanks to you. Thank you so much.”

Queen also featured Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon alongside Kangana.
