Veteran filmmaker and writer Sai Paranjpye turns a year older today. On the occasion of her 83rd birthday, Kangana Ranaut sent her best wishes and acknowledged her contribution to the world of cinema.
The actress shared a few pictures of the legendary director and wrote, “There are many lost heroes of Cinema who media conveniently forgets… Today is the birth anniversary of one such hero one of the first women writer and director Sai Paranjpye ji who made exceptional cinema like Sparsh and Chasme Buddoor. Wishing you a very happy birthday maam.”
Sai Paranjpye graduated from National School Of Drama and started her career in All In Radio as an announcer. Her first film Sparsh won several awards, including the National Film Award. Her 1993 documentary Choodiyan won the National Film Award For Best Film On Social Issues. Her film Katha also won the National Film Award. She was awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 2006.
