We have a piece of bad news for Kimye fans! Kim Kardashian‘s publicist has confirmed that the reality TV star has filed for divorce from Kanye West after seven years of marriage.
The reports about the couple living separately surfaced last month and now, it’s official. Kimberly is asking for joint custody of their four children and buzz has it that the divorce is ‘amicable’. Kim’s lawyer Laura Wasser filed the divorce papers on Friday.
Kanye, in the past, had openly confessed about suffering from bipolar disorder. As he launched his bid for US presidency last year, he announced that he wanted to abort his daughter and broke down. Later, in a Twitter rant he stated that his wife and his mother-in-law Kris Jenner were trying to lock him up and suggested that he was seeking divorce. He later deleted the tweets.
Kim had then asked the media and the public to show ‘compassion and empathy’ and said that those who understand mental illness know that ‘family is powerless unless member is a minor.’
The couple had started dating in 2012, when Kim was seeking divorce from her second husband Kris Humphries. Their first child, North was born in June 2103 and the couple tied the knot in 2014 in Florence, Italy. They have four children together- seven-year-old North, son Saint (5), daughter Chicago (3) and son Psalm, who is 21-month-old.
