The legal battle between Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan has hit headlines again, as the latter today recorded his statement with the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with the 2016 fake email case against the actress.

Dressed in casuals, Hrithik arrived at the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office, this morning, to record his statement. He had been asked to visit the Crime Intelligence Unit. The media went crazy and hounded the actor as he entered and left the Commissioner’s office.

In 2016, Hrithik had sent a legal notice to Ms. Ranaut, after she publicly referred to him as her ‘silly ex’. While Kangana said that they were in a relationship, Hrithik denied all her claims. He said that someone impersonating him had been sending her emails. He also said that the actress harassed him by sending ‘a barrage of emails’, when she came to know of his real email id.

A case under section 419 (cheating by personation) of IPC and sections 66C (identity theft), 66D (cheating by personation using computer resources) of the Information Technology Act was registered against an unknown person at Cyber Police Station. In December 2020, the case was transferred from Cyber Cell of Mumbai police to Criminal Intelligence Unit, on Hrithik’s lawyer’s request.
Reacting to Hrithik being summoned by the Criminal Intelligence Unit to record his statement, Kangana had said a day ago, “Duniya kahan se kahan pahunch gayi magar mera silly ex abhi bhi waheen hai usi modh pe jahan yeh waqt dobara laut ke nahi jane wala.”

Hrithik and Kangana had worked together in Kites (2010) and Krrish 3 (2013).
